Segesta

Segesta is a is ancient temple located in the Trapani province. It is about an hour drive from Palermo. The is located in the middle of mountains and an amazing countryside. It stands alone and allows you to take in the surrounding areas. There no modern buildings nearby to take away from the Temples setting....so it was a blast to experience my first Greek Temple this way.

The ride there:

The small hike:

And there she is...

Surrounding views:

What can I say?
I just LOVE architecture!

Monreale

Monreale or "Mons Regalis" meaning The Royal Mountain, about a 25 minute drive from downtown Palermo's. The town of Monreale overlooks what is called the "Conca d'Oro," which is the beautiful valley beyond Palermo. The town is mainly known for its Cathedral,
Santa Maria la Nuova, its Norman cloister and amazing views of the Mediterranean.

Eating experience in Palermo...you will never guess

Ok, so Dave has raved about this sandwich in Palermo
that we should all try, though he was not going to tell
us what was in it, other then meat of some sort.

So all that were daring met up with Dave and he took
us to the market where this guy makes these sandwiches.

Ok, so I bought this damn thing....now I have to actually eat it (blast)
(Why did I buy this?)

I can't believe I am doing this!!!!

Actually...it wasn't that bad....
To be honest, it was good!

WHAT IS IT......?

got an idea.....?
ask......
all that I will say is that it comes from a cow
It is called milsa...good luck trying to find out
what it is on google (to save you time-you won't find it.)

(No, you can't have any)

Catterdrale di Palermo

The cathedral is this great bulletin board of architecture, as Stanley put it.

It has so many influences because Palermo is a port city so it
has received several styles which are all layered on the facade.

Continuing on in the city....

LET ME IN!!!

That can't be good for the bike...

In the city garden sketching plants:

There are these amazing HUGE trees there
they are so much fun to climb too!
